Mildura is the largest town in the Sunraysia region, founded in the late 1880s as Australia’s first major irrigation settlement under the Chaffey brothers. The town grew on the back of fruit, vines and the rail link to Melbourne, and that progression shows in successive layers of housing as you move from the original riverside grid out toward the newer estates on the edges.
